If you are addicted to your gadgets and have four grand to spare, get in touch, for half that price let me know when you are on holiday, and I will come round the day before you go and take away all your gadgets, returning them them when you get back.

And before you go patting yourself on the back, expressing relief that you are not like those poor saps glued to their Blackberry's, or whose fingers go to into spasm when they are not texting or updating a status every two seconds, I am also talking to you.

Work and play

It's not only the 'work' gadgets we need a break from, there are also those gadgets that make our lives so portable. You know, the mobile phone, smartphone, tablet, Gameboy, PS2, eReader, MP3 player, digital camera, laptop and netbook, wireless / bluetooth headphones, etc. get the picture now? Can you realty enjoy being on holiday without them?

I hold my hands up, I can't, or should I say I don't want to. These days, i have turned in to a strategic packer, one has to with only a paltry 20kg check-in allowance, and a small piece of hand luggage. I have got my wardrobe down pat, I have abandoned the "just-in-case" clothes, shoes and bags, though I still take far too much jewellery, got to make the small number of outfits I'm taking look different somehow.

Sorry, I digress. After I have packed my wardrobe, I can spend days, struggling to decide what gadgets to pack and then remember memory cards, charging and power cables. That said, I think I am getting better, because on a recent 10 day trip to Italy, I only took my iPhone and digital camera. And you know what, I didn't miss my laptop, iPod or noise-free headphones.

But if the idea of leaving your gadgets behind before going on holiday, or even paying me to babysit them fills you will dread. And because you have more money than sense, perhaps a more expensive considered and therapeutic approach is required.

Bring on the life coach

It's time to cash in your rainy-day money and splash out on a 'digital detox' holiday in the Caribbean, sun, sea sand and a life coach to hold your hand during the night sweats when uncontrollaly you yell out the password to unlock your smartphone.

image from 4.mshcdn.comHand over anything from £2,967, per person based on two people sharing, and you can holiday gadget-free on the idylic islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Before you leave for the islands, you'll receive a pre-departure pep-talk with a life coach and a booklet detailing advice and tips on how to take back your life from the energy sucking gadgets you use every day.

Once again, if you have even more money than sense, and no willpower, you can spalsh out an additional £8.943, and you can take the life coach with you for the whole trip. I reallly am in the wrong business, I should be training to be  a 'digital-detox' holiday life coach.

Let the holiday begin

An once you are gadget free, what will you do with your new life, you can actually expetience and enjoy your holiday. Explore, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is made up of 32 islands and cays, nine of which are inhabited.

A representaive from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines tourism department said in a statement,

“This means actually experiencing a real vacation with human interaction, social skills and quality time with family and friends.”

This bit of the press release made me laugh,

"... embraced the idea of a digital detox package after a recent study found that 77% of consumers believe that time spent without gadgets and technology would help liberate them, improve their relationships and make them a better person. "

Good on St. Vincent and the Grenadines for spottng a very lucrative hole in the travel market. And St. Vincent and the Grenadines isn’t the only holiday destainatin cashing in on our dependenace on gadgets, as The Hotel Hāna-Maui in Maui, Hawaii doesn't even have clocks the rooms. Now that is what I call a holiday.

Your seven-night getaway price, per person, includes flights and hotel accommodation. Be prepared, some of the hotels such as Petit St. Vincent Resort, have gone all the way and you will be TV, Internet and /or telephone-free in hotel rooms. And if you replace your gadgets with food, be prepared to get in touch with the room service staff, at Petit St. Vincent Resort, by hoisting a small yellow flag on a bamboo pole outside your hotel door.

What a drastic and very expensive way to take a holiday away from your beloved gadgets!
