Check this out! The Bahamas Tourist Board is giving all budding
filmmakers the chance to win 'the best job in the world'!
Hold on, haven't we heard something like this before? If, like
me, you're thinking of Australia's Queensland campaign earlier this
year, where Brit Ben Southall won the chance to be the caretaker of the
islands of the Great Barrier Reef. Rent-free and a salary of £69,000!
With not much to do other than snorkelling, lazing in the sun, meeting
the locals, taking photos and writing (i.e. bragging) about his
experiences in a weekly blog Island Reef Job on Twitter and on Flickr Ben is seriously one lucky son of a gun!
Queensland Australia's campaign received $100million worth of global coverage, attracted over 34,000 applicants from 195 countries and the website had over 6.5million visits within the first two months - talk about exposure!
Now, its the turn of the Bahamas. And why on earth shouldn't these collection of beautiful, picturesque islands, just 50 miles off the coast of Florida USA, get a piece of the action? Who in their right mind wouldn't want to experience what looks like absolute paradise? The Bahamas is place that deserves to be talked about!
So what's the catch? Well, 14 lucky contestants will travel to the 14 different islands of the Bahamas to make a film showing us their view of the Bahamas. The best film will win a prize of £14,000 - not bad eh?
So, if you're jealous of Ben Southall, and who isn't, and fancy ditching the credit crunch, you'd better get your flip-flops on. All you have to do, to enter the 14 Islands Film Challenge, is submit a 500 word synopsis for a two - three minute film about a local hero where you live before midnight on Sat 31st October 2009 (told you you have to hurry).

If only I was any good at filmmaking. Hmmm! Now where did I put my digital camera?
