You know you are growing old when ... shopping trolleys

May 16 2011 , Written by thediversetraveller Published on #aging, #Growing old, #maturity, #middle-age, #shopping, #shopping trolley, #Travel News

This month I have been feeling every day of my uhmmm! years. The days of working to the small hours without feeling are now well behind me. These days it's still up at sunlight, but asleep by 9.30pm.

Last year, my many visits to the UK's seaside towns promoted a friend to ask if I was looking for a retirement home.

While I'm not yet ready for a retirement home, there are days when I do feel the speedy advance of middle-age. However, don't mind as my plan is too grow old disgracefully, with style, fun and the trendist shopping trolley in Sheffield.

That's right! This morning, while waiting for a bus outside Tesco, along with four elderly women shoppers, I brimmed with satisfaction and pride that my shoping trolley was definitelt 21st cetury, while theirs were stuck in the 19th century.

These days, I take delight where I can. But my smugness quickly disappeared to be replaced with a large dark question. As I continued to assess each trolley, I wondered is my winning 'shopping trolley best in class' at Tesco a sign of accepting old-age?

As I settle down to my evening milky coco and warm slippers, I ask you my friends, what reminds you that you are indeed growing old?
