Target audience: Travellers who love to share knowledge and experiences

Review written by: Joyce Cowles

Signing in through Twitter, I find the design of the website a little unappealing; but I've already read great reviews about this new start up social media site, and so I leave my web design snobbery behind and delve deeper into what's been dubbed "the traveller's answer to Pinterest".

I started off with the "places I've been" part of my profile; it's easy to search and add places to my list. It's exciting to see your world map get coloured in and the number counter of countries, cities and spots increasing. Instantly I sense a form of competitiveness, this a platform for boasting, fuelled with the ability to quickly unlock badges and awards.

As well as listing every spot I've ever trod upon, I can also attach reviews (there's a number counter and unlock badges for this). This website would have been excellent during my gap year. The thrill of adding new spots, countries; writing short reviews about all the places I've visited, then sharing it all via Facebook and Twitter. It acts as a sort of diary.

Finally, Gogobot.com has a section to 'Plan Trips' real (or in my case - dream) holidays, which can then be shared with friends and followers on the Gogobot network, and many of the other popular social media networks.

Despite being an avid backpacker and weekend-adventurer, I don't know how if I'll use this website on a 'check-it-once-a-day' basis; however, when looking for inspiration for new trips, and to boast about my latest adventure, gogobot.com definately does the job.
