Lance-Corporal Julien was a police officer from Trinidad who served in the British West Indies Regiment in both WWi and WWII. For his actions at the Damieh Bridgehead in the Jordan Valley of Palestine in 1918, he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (recognising acts of gallantry by non-commissioned officers, regarded as second only to the Victoria Cross in prestige).The Caribbean History Archives: World War I in Trinidad
