Cancer is an emerging public health problem in Africa. The continent recorded about 715,000 new cancer cases in 2008, and 542,000 cancer deaths. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer ( IARC), these numbers are projected to double in 2030. But despite this growing burden, cancer receives low public health priority in Africa.
