Regional theatre is in decline and politicians and Arts Council must help

Sir Ian, a trustee, said he had earned "a handsome living wage" when he had started his stage career in Coventry in the early 1960s. He told an event the Theatre Royal in the West End: "Clearly the decline is there. There are no regional theatres anymore that have permanent, or semi-permanent, groups of actors."
