Paris - the City of Arguments

Admittedly, I got back from The Netherlands less than a week ago, but next Tuesday (March 31st) I am off to Paris (France not Ohio USA).

A day trip I booked in January via Eurostar for £59, when the days were short, wet and very grey.

I decided it was preferable to worry about the credit crunch, in the 'city of light' whilst sipping un café and pâtisseries at somewhere like the Café Lacombe, while the Spring sunshine (hopefully) caresses my face.

Paris is also often referred to as the 'city of love', and my absence of a travelling 'partner' was commented on my friend, Sarah.

Fortunately, my fellow researchers were on hand with an answer. I pointed her in the direction of the BBC's Random Stat website (posted Monday, 11 February 2008 at 09:39 UK time), which stated:

'Paris may be the city of romance but it is also the top spot where British couples argue, according to a poll of 2,000 people for Teletext Holidays. The French capital tops the list of destinations most likely to cause a tiff, with 34% of those who have been there on a break admitting to clashing.'

So, it seems it's a good thing I'm going on my own.
