Slow train to...Birmingham

It's official! The summer holidays are underway, and if Euston and King Cross stations are anything to go by, I'd advice you to give any major train station a miss this weekend.

I wish I could take my own advice, but I am on a slow train to Birmingham New Street.

I knew today would be a travel nightmare, but my dear friend Jemima is celebrating her recent marriage, May, with those of us who couldn't join the happy couple on the idylic, Greek island of Santorini.

I can't wait to get to the Cafe Ikon, where tapas and many fine wines are on offer.

While the Midland Mainline takes me on a tour of the English countryside beside trainlines, I am reminded that much of this island is green, i.e nature.

Just left Long Bucky, somewhere near Northampton, I am glad brought along I am being by two old friends who I haben't hear from in a long while, Maxwell (BlackSummers Night 1) and Mica Paris (Born Again). Both have albums that have been a long time coming, but are worth the wait.

Next stop not so green Rugby!
