#Bupa 10k and an #Elephant Parade

I may have been stupid, but I am proud of myself.

Why? Well, despite only four days of long jogs, power walking and yoga, I managed to complete the Bupa 10K in 74 minutes.

How did I do it? By being my typical pig-headed self, coupled with adrenalin - I was determined not to succumb to any weakness.

Yes, I was foolhardy, and wouldn't advise anyone to do as I did, but once I found a comfortable pace, I knew I could finish regardless of the time.

Despite my lack of training, I will do better next time, I find jogging, running and power walking a great way for anyone to get fit and healthy, and not just for Summer, while enjoying London's many parks. And if you're not in London, that doesn't matter as I have jogged in many beautiful and serene parks all over the world.

So, regardless of your shape or size, and ther were many who were carrying more weight than me speeding past me, last Monday, I urge you to take advantage of the good weather we are having and get outdoors.

As I mentioned, I plan to kick start my training as prescribed by the experts, so that I can add to the two 10Ks under my perfect fitting shorts (my first was in March (Newham 10K). Now that I have turned into a fitness zealot, please join me in the quest to get (and stay) healthy and fit on the cheap, by keeping me company while I train for one or both of the following London races:

Run for Congo Women, website at at http://www.runforcongowomen.org and / or and ASICS BRITISH 10K LONDON RUN on July 12th.

So get in touch if you would like to join me at one or both events; or if you live in Brent or Ealing (my training routes) and just want company while getting fit outdoors, let me know.
