52 weeks of procrastinating (not writing) - chasing dust bunnies

Sigh! I’m feeling as put upon as like a scullery maid on the successful ITV drama Downton Abbey, because I seem to spend too much time on my knees - get your mind out of the gutter, pun not intended – hands aged by the manual labour of gripping a dustpan and brush, swooping on the numerous dust bunnies that have moved in, intent on dodging my bristles.
When I rented this tiny, about the size of the Downton Abbey ballroom, I was confident keeping it clean would be a doddle. But my laminate floors, that make the flat look modern, are a nightmare to keep clean. Hence, I find my self most mornings, today included, trying to zap each dust bunny family with my early morning evil eye. And who was the idiot who thought of calling them bunnies, they are not cute, they are the devil’s dust. Look at them, as I type I know they are arrogantly floating around, no longer content to hide in dark corners, they are like ghosts, one minute you see them, the next they are gone.
Am I obsessed with taking them down? You bet ya! I’m not clean obsessed, but I cannot sit comfortably if I can see bits on the floor. However in spite of the many modern tools I have in my armoury, vacuum cleaner, standard mop, and one of those special mops that have the static cleaning cloth on the end for laminate floors, and the frequency of my cleaning, they always comeback, and to make matters worse they are lousy company.
So forgive me for not dedicating this space to a demonstration of my latent creativity, being of a like mind, I’m sure you’ll understand why writing is not on the agenda today; after all those dust bunnies will not chase themselves. I’m determined to catch the little blighters, in keeping with Downton Abbey, and when I do I’ll have plenty of time tomorrow for an overdue explosion of creativity.
If you’re not writing today, why not? Are you chasing dust, alphabetising your canned goods, or pricing your prized possessions in case you have to sell them at a moments notice? If so let me know, I have a to-do list to fill up.
